For many businesses, the question isn’t whether an electric van is interesting. It’s whether one can do the work their current diesel does, how much the change will cost and what happens to the vehicle they already own.
CPD Group is bringing those decisions together through Key4E. Launching in late September 2026, the service will help businesses assess their options, specify an electric commercial vehicle and part-exchange an existing diesel vehicle in a single transaction.
A working van has to fit the business around it. Its daily mileage matters, but so do its payload, tools, equipment and the jobs it needs to reach. A panel van that suits one operator may be entirely wrong for another.
That is why Key4E begins with the operation. CPD can help customers consider whether electric is suitable before moving on to the vehicle itself. If it is a good fit, the next step is choosing the make, model and specification that will let it do the job.
Key4E covers electric panel vans and chassis-based vehicles with specialist bodies. Depending on the work, that could mean a van fitted with racking and equipment, or a tipper, dropside, traffic management vehicle, Luton with a tail lift or welfare vehicle.
CPD’s experience in vehicle conversions means customers can discuss the finished working vehicle, rather than choosing a base vehicle and working out the build later. Farizon North East forms part of the group’s growing electric vehicle offering, alongside CPD’s Good2Go Zero range and wider vehicle supply capabilities.
The vehicle being replaced is part of the financial decision. Selling it separately can add another task to an already complicated purchase.
Through CPD’s Key4Key service, Key4E can include a diesel part-exchange in the same transaction as the new electric vehicle. Customers can see how the value of their existing vehicle contributes to the change, with funding support available where required.
Key4E gives businesses one process for advice, vehicle selection, specification, part-exchange and funding support. It is designed for operators who want to explore electric without having to coordinate each part of the replacement on their own.
Gareth Jones, Executive Director of CPD, says the team’s role is to establish whether electric works for the customer first. From there, it can help shape the right vehicle for the work and handle the practical steps involved in replacing the diesel.
